Excellent – is everyone starting again? Are you importing old positions and if so will you you balance so all start equally 🙂

If you don’t have access to old positions then as a returning player you are getting a one time bonus called a “Enhanced Startup” and it is as follows (proposed):

1,000 Retainers, 100.000 Crowns, 10,000 Influence with (13) Skill points along with some Weapons, A Rations, Horses (for Land), Ships (for Naval) and some other stuff. (Talk to Jon about the position).
BTW there is no such thing as being “equal”…that is why I proposed the “Enhanced Startup” for those former players that no longer have access to their former positions. Many of us have access to our former positions, so that is your “equalizing factor” in the Enhanced Startup. It should be noted if people think the bonus Enhanced Position should be greater, then now is the time to talk about it because Beta Test start in a week or two.

For me its simple. If former positions have 10,000 retainers etc then its way out of kilter. If they have 750-1500 then it sounds about right.

Agreed – First is to get a turn or two out so that people can get back into it. Then I will start activating some of the things that Knightguild could do (since I am laying this game on top of that system). There are going to be some growing pains, but I hope to balance the game after start.

I would like to read the rulebook but when I go to dowloads, it says this is not allowed at my membership level. What do i need to do to be able to read the rulebook and participate in any play tests.

Jon is re-writing/revising/updating the rulebook so the current rulebook will be somewhat different than the revised edition. I would guess that there will be quite a few changes from what you remember. However, the old/current rulebook would still give you plenty of good information and I’m guessing still be relevant with respect to some of the more obvious activities (moving/buying etc) and provide lots of information concerning buildings, construction and the like plus faction descriptions. Some of the proposed changes can be found reading thru the missives here in the forum.

The game is a redo of a popular previous incarnation and is currently in playtest.

Click on “Downloads” at the top menu for the current manual.

There is also a thread with link to a “discord” site, there is more discussion going on in that chatroom….
